Carthage has a population of 13,629 and is located at the crossroads of Interstate 44 and Interstate 49, making distribution a breeze. I-44 goes from Philadelphia to L.A while I-49 is part of an interstate network that goes from Winnipeg, Canada to Monterrey, Mexico. Carthage is located in the geographic and population center of the U.S.

Carthage is very pro business. It is home to Leggett & Platt's headquarters (Fortune 500) as well as Butterball, Schreiber Cheese, Ott's, and dozens of other industries. Union activity is extremely low. The city government is very active in attracting new business. The city has its own electricity generating capacity through Carthage Water & Electric.

Carthage is located just 12 miles from the Joplin Regional Airport with direct daily flights to Dallas on American Airlines. Other airports nearby include Springfield (MO) Regional (68 miles), Northwest Arkansas (75 miles), & Tulsa International (125 miles). The Port of Catoosa (the furthest inland waterway in the U.S.) is located 116 miles away.  

In keeping with its belief that education is extremely important to its workforce, Carthage has improved classroom instruction. Intensive staff development programs & teaching strategies have been implemented to improve the student utilization of technology programs. They also offer AVO-Tech courses in automotive, plant science, electronics & carpentry. The High School Communication Arts ranked 10 Most Improved in MO last year. District accredited by North Central Association of Colleges & Schools & State of MO.
