Baxter Springs, KS

Baxter Springs…a city with a rich history and a bright future!

Baxter Springs is located in the extreme southeast corner of Kansas on the historic US Route 66 highway in Cherokee County. Baxter Springs is located at the junction of Kansas Highway 69A (Historic Route 66) and 166, one mile from the Oklahoma State Line and seven miles from the Missouri State Line and Interstate 44.

With the discovery of lead and zinc in the Tri-State district, Baxter Springs became a prosperous business center.  The demise of mining left its mark, but unlike many other less fortunate communities, the city recovered through the diversification of business, agriculture and industry to become one of the most attractive and progressive cities in the area.

Baxter Springs’ economic growth is apparent and is home to many businesses, including KMT Waterjet Systems and Atec Steel Fabrication.
